THIS IS A TYPICAL GERMAN REFURBISHMENT HELMET WITH BLACK PAINT, 90% REMAIN.
M18 TRANSITIONAL MODEL

THE MAKER IS ET64 Eisenhuettenwerke Thale A.G., Thale /Harz.
FOR THESE PRE WAR M18 HELMETS, THE E.T64 MUST BE MADE WITH A GOTHIC SCRIPTED. THIS ONE IS.

IT'S ALSO MARKED WITH A "8" WHICH SHOULD BE THE LOT NUMBER. THAT WOULD MEANS THAT THIS HELMET WAS IN THE 10 FIRST MADE!
BELOW THE E.T.64 MARKS, WE CAN BARELY SEE ANOTHER MARKINGS. COULD BE A LOGO FROM THE ROLLING MILLS (FACTORY WHERE THE STEEL WAS MILLED TO MAKE THE SHELL).

BOTH PARTY SHIELD DECAL AND THE SS RUNES DECAL MANUFACTURER IS C.A. POCHER. (Note the sharp angles of the runes. Another feature is the bottom line of both runes are in line with the point where the shield makes a turn to become narrower and pointed (the «break»).
ONLY THIS MANUFACTURER WAS USED FOR SS DECALS ON THE M18 MODELS.
BOTH DECALS REMAIN 80% COMPLETE WHICH IT'S EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION.

LINER IS CIVIL TYPE AS IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE. SHAPE AND MARKINGS ARE 100% CORRECT FOR THAT TYPE OF HELMET.
CHINSTRAP IS MISSING

Extensive redesigns were made for the M1918 model. A new two-piece chin strap was introduced, and was attached directly to the helmet liner rather than the shell. Certain examples of the M1918 had cutouts in the rim along the sides of the helmet. It has incorrectly been said that these cutouts were to accommodate using headphones while wearing the helmet. These cutouts were actually done to improve hearing and to reduce echo created by the large, flared skirt.

The M1918 Stahlhelm can be distinguished from the M1916, as the M1918 shell lacks the chinstrap rivet on the lower side of the helmet skirt found on earlier models. The decal manufacturer is C.A. the inmate was Czech from Vienna.

the grouping include 3 letters - postcards from the same inmate with his name and ID (21363)
and also his red triangle Czech political prisoner jacket patch.

this is UNIQUE and VERY rare !
for someone who wants to preserve the history !
