WW2 German Nazi Third Reich Rare NSDAP Gau Sudetenland Honour Badge
relic ground dug found some enamel colour are missing at the bottom where it's red.
The Gau-Ehrenzeichen Sudetenland was donated by the Gauleiter Konrad Henlein.
The Gau was only founded in 1938 after the Sudetenland was annexed on October 3, 1938.
The foundation was previously applied for and approved by the Reich leadership of the NSDAP. It was probably awarded to deserving party members of the district. Exact determinations are not known. The award was made by the Gauleiter. As with other districts, it can be assumed that a deed of ownership was issued in which the membership number of the NSDAP was listed. The certificate was formally considered a permit to wear. Since the badge is extremely rare, this cannot be proven. The well-known decorations have no matriculation numbers, as is usual with other Gau decorations. It was worn on the left side of the chest under the Iron Cross, if present.
Henlein (May 6, 1898 - May 10, 1945) was a Sudeten German National Socialist politician. After his full-time activity in the German Gymnastics Federation, which he headed from 1931, he founded the Sudeten German Home Front in 1933. Later the Sudeten German Party emerged from it. The close contacts with the NSDAP supported and promoted the annex efforts. Henlein started the September 1st uprising on September 12th and 13th, 1938. After the crackdown, he fled to Germany, where he set up and commanded the Sudeten German Freikorps. Even the Freikorps was subordinate to the SS. On January 26, 1939, he joined the NSDAP and later also the SS. Henlein acted as Reich Governor and Gauleiter of the NSDAP. Until 1945 he was a member of the National Socialist Reichstag. He committed suicide while in captivity in the United States. Source: J.Nimmergut, German medals and decorations until 1945, Vol. IV, Wikipedia.
